Episode #117: 12 Weeks Free Coaching Week 3 Becoming the Person You Want to Be
Becoming the Person You Want to Be: A New Approach to Weight Loss in Your 40s
If you’ve reached your 40s and feel like weight loss has become harder, more frustrating, or more complicated, you’re not imagining it.
Hormones shift. Stress increases. Responsibilities grow. Sleep changes.
But often, the biggest shift isn’t physical, it’s mental.
Many women are still trying to lose weight the way they did in their 20s:
restrict
punish
start over
push harder
wait for motivation
And when that stops working, they assume they are the problem.
But what if the real shift isn’t more discipline…
What if it’s becoming the woman you want to be?
Results Don’t Create Identity, Identity Creates Results
We often believe:
“I’ll feel confident once I lose weight.”
“I’ll feel good once I’m consistent.”
“I’ll take care of myself once I’m disciplined.”
But real change works in reverse.
You begin acting like the person you want to become now.
You nourish your body because you respect it.
You move because it makes you feel alive.
You choose balance because you deserve peace.
And over time, the results follow.
Joy Is Not the Opposite of Hard Work
We’ve been taught that success requires suffering.
But the women who sustain progress long-term learn to love the process.
They notice:
• how energized they feel after nourishing meals
• how their mood improves with movement
• how good it feels to keep promises to themselves
• how enjoyable balance truly is
Joy doesn’t remove effort.
It makes effort sustainable.
Rewrite the Story in Your Head
Many women carry decades of internal narratives:
“I always fail.”
“I have no willpower.”
“I can’t be consistent.”
“I ruined today.”
These stories quietly shape identity.
And identity shapes behavior.
Instead of punishing self-talk, try noticing the story and rewriting it:
“I’m learning consistency.”
“My next choice matters.”
“I’m becoming someone who takes care of herself.”
Small shifts in language create powerful shifts in identity.
Action Builds Confidence
You don’t need confidence to start.
You build confidence by taking action.
Scheduling the workout.
Choosing protein at breakfast.
Adding vegetables to dinner.
Going for a five-minute walk.
Every small action becomes evidence:
“I can do this.”
Loving the Journey Creates Lasting Change
The scale will fluctuate.
Results take time.
Progress isn’t linear.
But when you enjoy the process when you feel alive, present, and aligned, you stay consistent long enough to create real change.
And consistency is what transforms your body and your life.
Ask Yourself:
Who am I becoming?
How do I want to feel in my body?
What small habit supports that version of me today?
Start there.
You don’t become her someday.
You become her one small choice at a time.
If you want more support, workouts, or nervous system tools, you’ll find everything linked in the show notes.
