How to Eat, Celebrate, and Travel Without Derailing Your Progress

We are at week seven of our 12 weeks of free coaching, and this one is especially timely because Spring Break is around the corner, and whether you're traveling or not, at some point in your life, odds are you're going to go on a vacation. Odds are you're going to celebrate a birthday, a holiday, a wedding, or a family reunion.

And if that thought brings up even a flicker of anxiety around food and your progress? This episode is for you.


The Biggest Shift Happens Before You Even Pack Your Bag

Before we get into any of the practical stuff, the biggest shift of all is in your mindset, and specifically, releasing the belief that any one thing is going to derail your progress.

There is never going to be a meal out that ruins all of your progress from the last week, the last two weeks, the last whatever. There is never going to be a vacation that undoes everything you've built. We are always more a result of what we do most of the time versus what we do occasionally.

And the other piece that works hand in hand with this? Removing the guilt and the shame. Because oftentimes, it isn't the big meal or the vacation itself that sets us back. It's how we feel afterward. The guilt, the shame, maybe allowing that to pull us into a little bit of restriction, and then we're right back in the cycle that wasn't supporting us in the first place.

So let's talk about how to break that cycle for good.


Social Eating: You Don't Have to Order for Other People's Comfort

One of the things that came up again and again in conversations with women going through coaching was social eating whether it was dinners out with girlfriends, work events, or celebrations where drinking came into the picture too.

And here's what I noticed: especially if you are at all a people pleaser, we start making decisions about what we're eating and what we're choosing based on what makes others feel comfortable before we're making decisions based on what we actually want.

So here's your permission slip: take care of your body. Eat, drink, and be merry in a way that actually feels really good to you.


The All-or-Nothing Trap (and How Vacations Trigger It)

The all-or-nothing mindset shows up so clearly around vacations. We're solid all week, then the weekend hits and it's "I deserve this" and we eat in a way that's not really coming from a place of alignment or feeling good, but from the pressure of being too strict for too long.

Same thing happens with trips. We think: vacation means everything is out the window. And then we come home feeling like we need to start over.

But here's what I saw happen again and again with the women I coached: they came back from vacations and didn't feel like they had undone all their progress. They didn't feel like they went overboard. They didn't feel like they couldn't enjoy themselves. They felt like they made mindful decisions and they went in with a plan, a flexible one.


A Reminder to Carry With You

You get to decide what feels really good on vacation. You get to decide what feels really good in your day-to-day life. And you get to stay consistent not through force or pressure but with more ease, more flow, and more love for yourself.

Progress isn't ruined. It's flowing. It's always coming together.
