Release the Control: Trusting Life to Fall Into Place

Have you ever been in a situation where you know it's all going to work out, but you still find yourself refreshing your email, checking the website one more time, just needing to see it before you can actually breathe?

Yeah. Same.

This week on Trusting Dorothy, I'm sharing a real story from my own life about a chaotic Memorial Day weekend, a dance competition, a soccer tournament, and what it taught me about manifestation, control, and truly trusting that life can be better than you plan for.

When You're Holding On Too Tightly

My daughter has both a dance competition and a soccer tournament landing on the same weekend. In theory, it could all work out, but the schedules were unknown, and I found myself mentally trying to control exactly how the pieces needed to fall into place.

Soccer had to be in the morning. Dance had to be at night. It had to look a specific way.

And here's the thing, when we lock onto one way something has to happen, it creates this low-grade stress that hums underneath everything. It feels tighter. Heavier. Less fun.

But when I shifted from "it has to be this exact way" to "I just want it to flow with ease and no conflicts" the energy completely changed. I wasn't attached to the specific outcome anymore. I was anchored to the feeling I wanted and everything fitting together for the most good.

That's one difference in the energy between controlling and trusting.

Universe, Show Me How Good It Gets to Be

This is a phrase from Abraham Hicks that I've been sitting with lately, and I think it's so powerful because it does two things at once, it keeps your desire alive and it opens you up to something even better than what your human brain could have planned.

We get so locked into our past experiences. If it worked a certain way before, we expect it needs to look that way again for it to be okay. But what if it gets to be even better? What if you allowed yourself to be genuinely wowed?

Releasing control doesn't mean releasing desire. It means trusting that what you want is on its way, and you don't have to white-knuckle the how.

But First... Do You Believe You Deserve It?

Here's the layer that doesn't get talked about enough: this only works if somewhere deep down, you believe you deserve good things.

A simple gut check? Notice how you feel about other people having good things. If you find yourself thinking others don't deserve ease, joy, or abundance, that's often a reflection of how we feel about ourselves, too.

When you're at peace with yourself, you naturally want good things for the people around you. There's no scarcity in it. You know that someone else's good doesn't take away from yours.

And on that same note, you deserve a beautiful life not because of anything you've achieved or proven, but just because you exist. Full stop.

Slowing Down to Hear Yourself

One more thing I touched on in this episode: it's really hard to hear your intuition when you're moving fast. When life is busy and loud, we tend to push through instead of pause.

But slowing down, even just a little, is often what allows you to trust yourself more, be more present, and actually enjoy where you are right now while you're working toward what you want.

You don't have to have it all figured out to feel good today.

This Week's Invitation

Whatever you're hoping fits together right now, a schedule, a relationship, a goal, a season of life, try releasing your grip on exactly how it has to happen.

Ask yourself: Universe, show me how good this gets to be.

And if a little voice inside says "but I don't know if I deserve that" that's your starting point, love. Slow down, come back to yourself, and anchor into the identity of someone who gets to have a good, full, beautiful life.

Because you do. 🤍
